Trolly size?

Hi,

I have a group of 16 visiting Alexandria in June. I've read about the King St. trolley, would we have trouble with a group our size? If so, are there enought restaurants within walking distance of the Embassy Suites for teens? (we'll be eating three dinners)

Just so you know, the Trolley is nothing more than a bus (a smallish one at that) that runs from King Street Metro to the Waterfront. It's first come first served on the trolley. That said, if you are staying at the Embassy Suites there are plenty of places to eat well within walking distance. Further, the entire length of King street is dotted with restaurants the length of King (a little more than a mile). There are plenty of choices that Teens would be happy with. Suggest the following all within walking distance of the Suites. Hard Times Cafe (Chili); South Austin Grill (mexican); Quattro Formaggio; Rocket Grill; Pines of Florence (Itallian). All within a teens budget. Hope this helps.

The trolley is fun but Teens should easily be able to hike the lovely streets and shops from Embassy Suites down to the Waterfront and back. (plus burn off extra energy).

That way they can see all the shops and restaurants. As usual bbyers' advice is spot on. I heartily second the recommendation of Quattro Formagio is very casual, combo take out and sit in with an amazingly varied menu plus low prices as no need to tip and the napkins are paper and the silverware plastic with seat yourself tables that can easily accomodate 16. Just avoid lunch hour crush. We used to take our teen age son there every weekend for his white pizza fix. You can even stop by and pick up the menus in advance to facilitate a dinner order.

Actually you can't go wrong with any of bbyers resturant picks.

enjoy the visit

Thanks! I wasn't sure of the distance down to the waterfront and back. Sounds like an enjoyable walk.

If you are staying at the Embassy Suites on 1900 Diagonal road, then according to Google maps, it is a barely over a mile (1.2 miles exactly) to the Torpedo Factory & the Waterfront, straight shot down King Street. So great if you catch a trolley one way and walk the other. Enjoy
