Arlington Holiday Inn Express, 2451 E. Randol Mill Road

Worst Holiday Inn Express that we ever stayed in. Absolutely no sleep due to trains passing by and train whistling all night long. Every train whistled at the many crossings throughout the city and was impossible to fall asleep. Will never again stay in Arlington and would not recommend this hotel in particular if you want to get any sleep at all.

Not that it helps you at all, but that is right at the Industrial Corridor / GM plant, etc. and has scads of trains going through there..as you already surmised. That same train goes by Division street, Hwy 360, behind UT Arlington and past downtown and blows its horn at every crossing (which is alot). It is fortunately the only train tracks in the city. It rumbles right behind the Theatre Arlington stage and shakes the walls. The director of the theatre, BJ Cleveland, is known to do improv dialogue lines about the train right in the middle of the play. Did you know there was a train in the middle of "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum"?...in our version, there was.

I would recommend getting away from that area altogether and picking pretty much anywhere else in Arlington. If you are at Six Flags, stay at Hyatt or Hilton or someplace near I-30 and Collins and away from Hwy 360. If you have your choice of places, it is much quieter on the south side by I-20.

Btw, the new Dallas Cowboy stadium is being built right now at that very same place (Division and Collins). So, beware when booking a hotel when you come to see a game, and choose something a bit farther away from seedy-ville (Division).
