Bike Riding along main drag

Hi! We are doing a long weekend in Atlantic Beach/Pine Knoll Shores/Salter Path area. Staying in the Hampton Inn. Is there a bike path along the main drag (hwy 58, I think) that is safe enough for an 8 year old to ride between Mom and Dad? Or is it just usual side of the road riding. We love to be outside and not have to drive when at the beach (to grab lunch, ice cream, shop, etc). But don't want to haul bikes if it's not safe. Thanks!

There is a something along the road there. Not sure if it's a sidewalk or a bike path.

It's only in Atlantic Beach, though, not Pine Knoll Shores or Salter Path. There's one in Emerald Isle, too.

It's sporadic. Sometimes on one side of roadway and then switches to the other side. As Pancho did you can go to google maps and hit street view and see what I mean. They do have numerous pedestrian crossways, mainly for those who park and walk to the public beach accesses but not sure how continuous it would be to downtown AB where shops and restaurants are. Maybe someone at the hotel would be better suited to answer.
