Temperature compared to Marmaris in August

I would like to visit Turkey in August 2013 (last two weeks) but I don't know if I'll be able to handle the heat. I like to be kept busy and go on trips rather than sitting by the pool when I'm away so I won't be able to take regular dips to cool off.

I know that Marmaris is very very hot at this time of year and I really don't think I could handle it. Family members have told me that there is more of a breeze in Bodrum and therefore seems a lot cooler.

Is this true? Any recommendations on handling the heat?
