1) Namba to Nara: Take the Kintetsu Nara Line.

Nara to Kiyomizu: Kintetsu Kyoto Line to Tanbabashi, transfer to the Keihan Line to Kiyomizu-Gojo. Kiyomizudera is about 15 minutes on foot.

Going to Kyoto and seeing just Kiyomizudera is not recommended, though. You should spend at least a whole day, preferably more time in Kyoto.

2) Take the Hanshin Line to Sannomiya. You can walk to China Town from Sannomiya (~12 minutes) or take the Hankyu or Hanshin Line from Sannomiya to Motomachi.

One more thing. Before you buy the Kansai Thru Pass, make sure it pays off because many passes don't even pay off unless you travel a whole lot.

Hi Shibuyakko,

3 days pass is about 5000 yen. I am consider to use to Kyoto , Nara , Kobe and Osaka sidway. From Kansai Airport to Nanba is about 980 yen. last year came to Osaka for business trip, only use single trip ticket as more time to visit many places . Mainly Dotonburi and shisaibashie . Also, Kyoto (Kiyomizu , Heian shrine and Kinkakuji temple.

But I miss fushimi inari shrine (Kyoto). Look at the map like out of the way?

Of couse 1) Nara half a day. Then Kyoto half a day to night. Because I already booked my hotel in Osaka.

2) Kobe (China Town and some night view)

3)UFJ

4)Umeda and local market near Nippobashi. Also, under water world?

5)Dotoburi, shinsaibashi , Nanba area.

As I only got 5 full days for this trip. The 6th day is morning flight.

As only 2 persons travel from this trip. My partner like to shop ...

Thanks for your assistance.

>>>3 days pass is about 5000 yen. I am consider to use to Kyoto , Nara , Kobe and Osaka sidway.<<<

Most likely the pass won't pay itself off. Do fare calculations on hyperdia.com.

Half a day for Kyoto is way too short. I recommend dropping 2), 4) or 5) and allocating that time to Kyoto.

Fushimi Inari is not out of the way. It's only 2 stops from Kyoto Station:

It's one of my very favorite places in Kyoto. Highly recommended.

Kansai Thru Pass basically requires a longer trip (such as to Koyasan or Himeji) to pay off. Traveling within the cities mentioned don't typically offer savings.

A good analysis can be found here.

The cheapest method from KIX to Kyoto is actually the ICOCA & Haruka package. It lets your ride Haruka Express for just effectively 1,000 Yen.

8. Re: Kansai Thru Pass - 3 days pass

I have a follow up question on Kansai Thru Pass. I will be staying in Osaka at the end of the month for 4 nights before leaving for Takamatsu. During that period, I need to go to Hikone in Shinga for a day and also want to visit Osaka University and Minoo . I am thinking of buying a three day Kansai Thru Pass so I could use it to travel from KIX to Osaka, visit Osaka university in Minoo and travel to Hikone.

I look at the website ( there is a map of the coverage but written in Japanese) but was not able to find out whether using the pass allow me to go to Hikone in Shinga and take train/tram to Osaka university.

Will appreciate any advice on the above. Or should I get a 4 day JR West Wide Area pass ?

Thanks

I consider use the pass:-

1)Kansai Airport to Namnba station.900 yen (Hotel check in) Then ,Umeda and Kaiyi kan (Sea world?) Return 2 ways about 1000 Yen (1900 yen)

2) Nara half a day. Then Kyoto half a day to night. Because I already booked my hotel in Osaka. (about 2000 yen)

3) Kobe (China Town and some night view) about 2000 yen

Then it fully utilise the 3 day pass.

Agree with long distance travel.

If just travel to UFJ only (train 320 yen x 2 ways).. not maximize..

KIX to Namba : 890yen * 2

Namba to Aquarium : 270yen * 2

Namba to Kintetsu Nara : 540yen

Kintetsu Nara to Gion : 800yen

Gion to Namba : 600yen

Namba to Kobe : 400yen * 2

If Day Pass is more comfortable for you than ICOCA, it's ok to invest 5000yen.
