Just saw something called a Kansia hrough Pass 2 (or 3 day)

Hi,

A 2 day pass costs Y3,800. surutto.com/tickets/kansai_thru_english.html

Would that be a good pass to go:

Day 1 - Kyoto - KIX (where my hotel is only so that I can stay in one htl for 2 nights)

Day 2 - KIX - Osaka - KIX ?

tkanks again.

Can you post (or re-post) your entire itinerary down to each day's plans? Your plan might impact what passes are good for you.

It is unlikely that the Kansai Thru Pass would pay off though.

Thanks Sammy,

Day 1 arr NRT 0600 stay in Shibuya - 3 nights - look at reas in Tokyo

Day 4 Shibuya to Kyoto - 2 nights, Kyoto and Arashiyama

Day 6 Kyoto - Osaka (KIX hotel?) 2 nights

Day 7 into Osaka for 1 day round trip from KIX htl

Day 8 KIX depart 10am

For such a simple itinerary it seems to be complex.

NRT to Shibuya: Suica-NEX

www.jreast.co.jp/e/suica-nex/index.html

Itinerary-wise, here is a proposal that might minimize moving hotels as much as possible:

Day 5 Kyoto

Day 6 Day trip to Osaka and/or Nara

Day 7 Kyoto (central Kyoto or Arashiyama, depending on what you accomplished on day 5)

On the evening of day 7, if you choose to head to a KIX airport hotel, take the Haruka Express at 20:15 which gets you to KIX at 21:37.

If you stay at Kyoto until day 8, yes, you would have to get up early. Take either the 6:22 Haruka Express (arrives at 7:41) or 6:45 train (arrives at 8:17).

Either way, I suggest opting for a hotel at or very close to Kyoto station.

No other passes would save you money in your case (besides Suica-NEX package upon Tokyo arrival).

What is the reason for staying at KIX? It's totally inconvenient for sightseeing in Osaka. Besides, it's not fun to stay near KIX. If you want to stay in Osaka, stay in Namba. On the departure day, take the Nankai Line train to KIX.

Ok, thanks. So the Nankai line is near Namba?

Nankai Namba Station is the terminus of the Nankai Airport Line. Here is an Osaka subway/railway map. Please note that there are several Namba Stations in one huge station complex:

With your itinerary, no pass will likely to pay off. Just get the ICOCA card for convenience:

Thanks, I have booked Fraser Residence hotel as it's close to Namba station.

And the Gravia Kyoto. What is the best train to get from Kyoto to Namba Station using the ICOCA card?

Thanks
