Hotel - where to stay (area)?

Hi,

I'm planning on going to Osaka in Summer. Since it's our first time, we wanna see all the typical sights I'm wondering what area would be best to stay in. What's a good base?

Thanks for any help.

Definitely recommend staying in the Namba/Shinsaibashi area over the Umeda/Osaka station area.

I agree to basing yourself in Namba/Dotombori/Shinsaibashi area.

Umeda has large department stores (Hankyu reopened recently; there are Isetan-Mitsukoshi, Hanshin, and Daimaru) and an underground labyrinth.
