Chicago to Saga.. Airplane, train, or bus from Narita

Our final destination is Saga. Would you recommend airplane, train or bus from Narita. Is it worth the cost for airplane? What are the bus and train connections like?

It has been over ten years since we visited.

Thanks

If you are asking market share, I guess flight 70%, train 25%, bus 5% or less.

If cost mattes, fly with the new budget airline http://www.china-sss.com/en

I mistakenly listed my question in Kyoto. I do not know how to change it. We are going to Saga City in South.

The quickest way is to fly into Tokyo Haneda Airport, then change to a connecting flight to Saga Airport. However, international flight service into HND are limited.

You will get more flight options flying into Narita Airport, then connect to a domestic flight to Fukuoka Airport. From Fukuoka Airport, take the subway to Hakata and then change to a Limited Express train to Saga. From Fukuoka Airport to Saga, the rides take roughly one hour.

Sprng Air starts their double-daily service between NRT and Saga as of August 1, this year.

Make sure you understand the risk when connecting on two separate bookings using two different airlines. If your incoming flight is delayed, your onward airline might require you to pay change fees, fare difference, or even buy an entire new ticket.

If you take Sammy's advice into consideration, buy 1 air ticket from your origin to Fukuoka Airport. Then ride a direct bus from Fukuoka Airport to Saga city

Why fly low cost or buy a 2nd ticket when the add-on booked as part of your international ticket costs 0-50 USD return? (randomly checked ORD - NRT vs ORD - FUK for the month of October).

If you actually want to spend time in Tokyo, specify Tokyo as stopover (though seems somewhat costly if destination is FUK) , or buy ORD-TYO and then an air pass product (100USD each way) for the domestic flights.
