I will be arriving from Osaka where I am based. I can walk to nakatsu subway or I can walk to Osaka JR station, I supposed the latter is a better option?
When I arrive at Kyoto station, I will take a bus to Nishiki market first. I like walking around a local market. Based on the map below
It seems like I can walk to Gion. And from there I can walk to Higashiyama and then to kiyomizu and kodaiji. Should I also walk to chionin, shorenin, and to nanzenji, eikando? Is the walk going to be easy like the map suggest?
Am I right to say those are all within walking distances? What else should I put into my itinerary. I plan to arrive early morning and leave at night. What should I reserve for the night?
The above only covers eastern Kyoto by walking. Should I plan to visit other parts of Kyoto? Are the other parts easy to travel to?
Can I use the ICOCA card on Kyoto buses, like just tapping in and out as I board and alight from the bus? Do taxis accept credit cards?
Thanks in advance for helping.
