autumn foliage

I am hoping to travel to japan in September - do you think the autumn foliage will be good at this time of year ?? I've read that it is at it's best in early November, but unfortunatley i can only be there in late september.

sh5481,

Unfortunately, September is too early to see the autumn foliage. As you heard, November is a good time to see it.

Generally speaking, September is a pretty good time to visit Japan. :-)

If you go farther north and/or to higher elevations, you may find some fall colours in late september. The leaves had already fallen off the trees by mid-october in some places I visited in Tohoku.
