Autumn color calendar ??

I know there is one for the spring-(cherry-/Sakura-) blossom, but is there also a calendar for the expecting autumn colors ?

Is it the other way around ( in time-periode ), so in spring from south to north and in autumn from north to south ?

So I guess it will take place between half October and half December, is that right ?

Thanks, Otto.

The north is colder than the south. Leaves will turn colour starting from the north.

Thank you very much......just for a start.

Only one problem is that there is just one sentence I can read:

I do not think that help's me !

You will not get any up-to-date foliage calendar in English. You click on the map for the appropriate area.

For instance this is Kyoto

Thank you all, this helps me forward.

The English website more than the other, although the Japanese one has nice pictures of several areas, but unfortunately I do not know where they are.

When going to Kyoto I will bring the colored pictures of it with me, perhaps the Japanese can point me where they are.

Perhaps someone can tell me what this (near the pictures) means:

見ごろ予想:11月中旬~12月上旬

And also this:

クチコミ数:12件

I think it means days or months or opening-times or so.

Thanks anyway.

Otto.

Otto,

Put the URL of the web page in a translator such as Babel Fish (http://babelfish.yahoo.com/translate_txt) and you can read the page in (a form of) English or any of a number of other languages.

Babel Fish told me, for example, that the first piece of Japanese you quoted means something like 'expect to see from mid November to early December'.

The tour I took to see autumn leaves in Honshu between Tokyo and Kyoto ran from 19 to 30 November and it keeps this schedule every year.

As a lover of autumn colors in Kyoto, I've been plagued these three years by a thought of having the colors on the wane each time I hit there supposedly in their peak. Yes, tempertures gotta be low the previous night, and the greater it gets, the more often you'd hear "aww, Ohh" coming from the mouths of people around you. That said, no inhibition will hold me back from exploring Arashiyama and Nanzenji Temple come mid-November, thinking this has got to be the exact timing for great autumn colors. Yes, if the timing is right, the temps going down like it did four years ago, you sure will join us Aww-ing/Ohh-ing. That I can assure you.

Enjoy your trip.

Try this link - click on events tnen scroll to near bottom of page and click on autumn colors in the block marked November. Gives you a rough estimate but i think it's a little too early at this point

Thank you all for the good and useful help !!

We will keep this in mind for further planning.

B.t.w. it will be for traveling in autumn 2010 !

As far as we have idea's now, we will stay in Kyoto from November 25 until December 6, so for 12 days. Just next step....searching for nice apartment.

Thank again,

Using Babel Fish for read Japanese?

Here is another site to read Japanese URL. I think it is better than Babel Fish.

Select 日→英 for Japanese to English.

http://www.excite.co.jp/world/english/web/

Go to Tohoku region or Gunma prefecture for autumn color in October. Autumn colors are two types: natural in the mountains/canyons or man-made in Japanese garden/streets.
