Kyoto - Travel cot

Hi there

We will be staying in Kyoto with a baby and wondering if we can hire a travel cot or where to buy one.

There are rental agencies that do rent such things, but only in Japanese...not sure they would rent to tourists, either. You can buy one at Toys R Us or Jusco or department store...but they may be difficult to find and be more money than you are willing to spend. Better hotels will be able to provide a baby bed if requested, but Japanese style rooms will not.

If it's important for you to have, then bringing from home might be best - don't set it up on tatami without asking first...the owners may well object as tatami is delicate to furniture damage.

Most Japanese families, mothers and babies sleep together so no cot needed.
