Tram to Peace Park and then train to Miyajimaguchi?

Hello, we plan on arriving at Hiroshima on the 9.05am train. We will catch the tram to the Peace Park but then I am uncertain as to our best choice for getting to Miyajima quickly. (using JR pass)

I had planned on taking the tram back to the station and then catching the train to Miyajimaguchi on the Sanyo Line.

Is there instead a tram from the Peace Park directly to Miyajimaguchi or the ferry port which is quicker than returning to the Hiroshima station first?

thanks for any advice. We dont want to use the ferry from the peace park as it is not JR.

cheers

You don't need to go back to Hiroshima station. You have two choices:

Take Hiroden all the way to Miyajimaguchi, but takes a long time.

Or

Take Hiroden to JR Yokogawa station and take the JR train to Miyajimaguchi.

Thanks Yamanote for the quick reply.

Can you help me please with details on your second option?

Is Hiroden a tram? And if I want to go to JR Yokogawa station where is the stop for it? Is it at the entrance end of the Peace Park or the other end at the Dome?

also what is the time difference (approximately) different to instead returning to Hiroshima station?

thank you so much for your help with this.

kind regards

Gazle - can you please give more detail on what you found out regarding catching the Hiroden as we also wish to do the same in October. Regards

Hi Imagine2

Here is a link - it appears to be in Japanese but scoll down and it has all pdf files to print out with everything you need. Tram Map - where you can see the JR stations that Yamanote referred to and also another file with instructions if you need them.

Hope this is what you are after

Hi

We just completed the same day trip last week. It is a big day but possible. You might like to consider going to Miyajima first (upon arriving at Hiroshima station) and then heading to the Peace Park for the second half of the day. It worked out quite well for us. At Miyajima consider taking the cable car - the views were great. NB the museum at the Peace Park closed at around 6 if you did go to Miyajima, make sure you make it back to Hiroshima in time.

To get to Miyajima from Hiroshima you need to catch a train (25 mins) and then a ferry (around 15 mins).

Thanks Haroldlunz,

would love to do it your way ie. Miyajima first and Peace Park second but it is low tide during the day with high tide at 5.30 so we plan on being there until 4.30 when the sun starts going down as it should be "mostly in" by then.
