Hangzhou to Shanghai--what's the fastest way?

Hi, what's the fastest way to get from Hangzhou to Shanghai? I know that it's about 3 hours by car, but is there a train or something that's faster?

thanks!

Yes, you could take a fast train in Shanghai Hongqiao Station, it only takes 50 minutes. And the medium cost for this is RMB 80. But do remember to take with your passport as your ID is required when buying this kind of ticket.

Definitely the train. According to the law, you should always have your passport with you in any case.

There r two railway stations in hangzhou, one is south hangzhou railway station, this one is closer to the airport, but not so many D trains depart from there, n it takes an hour n half to shanghai. The other one is hangzhou railway station, it's further from the airport, about 70RMB by taxi, a lot of G trains depart from there, takes about 45 minutes. When r u going to arrive?

We are arriving on Nov 21, landing at 1:10pm local time.

How do we get to the South Railway station or the Hangzhou Railway station? Do the airport buses go to both of these stations ? We don't mind the extra time of the D trains, as we are thinking if it is too much hassle we may just take a bus straight to Shanghai which will be 2 hours, right ? If so, it won't be much extra time than taking the D trains. The only thing is the frequency of the trains . Appreciate more advise

actually you can take metro line 2 from the airport to hongqiao railway station directly ( from airport - guanglan road, small line 2 train, then you will fine the bigger metro line 2 train from guanglan road to hongqiao railway station for that fastest G /Dtrain)

for the metro map:

http://www.exploreshanghai.com/metro/

or you can take

airport line 1 shuttle bus from pudong airport - hongqiao airport line 2 terminal, then take line 2 or line 10 for just 1 stop is the hongqiao railway station.

__________

iif you want to get to shanghai south railway station, you can take airport shuttle bus line 7 from pudong airport directly to shanghai south railway station for K train.

NOte: G /D train most of them started from shanghai hongqiao railway station.

Minmin, we are arriving in Hangzhou, not Shanghai. Sorry if I confused you in my post.

We want to go to Shanghai straight away after arriving in Hangzhou Xiaoshan airport.
