Wholesale Market Locations and Accessibility

Hi,

Im a first timer to guangzhou. The plane will land in Guangzhou international airport. Staying over for 4 days.

Need recommendation on good wholesale market for female and male clothing. Preferably western and Korean style. Good quality but reasonable price.

And also need reliable clothing manufacturers contact.

Lastly, how convenient is to travel to these markets, any recommendation for hotels around most markets?

If I am carrying back the goods, will it troublesome. Otherwise if import the goods back. Which are those reliable shops or malls I can go to.

Thanks

Hi there:

A lot of closths wholesale markest ( Zhan Xi Lu Garment wholesale market) around the Gunaghzou Railway Station , .It is the clothing distribution center in Guangzhou and South China. It plays a important role in the China's clothing wholesale market.Zhan Xi clothing wholesale market have many high-performance , well-known manufacturers. most of the shops are direct factory with production and world brand clothing technology and the ability to attract from worldwide, like North America, Africa, Japan, Korea, Eastern Europe customers.

it is easy for you go there,

You just need to take metro to Guangzhou Railway Station , Exit G, it is not easy for you to take a taxi during the rush hour ( 5-7 PM) ,

>>>If I am carrying back the goods, will it troublesome.<< it will depend on how much goods you will have, the clothing wholesale markets are close to each other, so maybe you can see around the markets first then decide which shop you will go .

Best bet is to head straight towards Guangzhou Railway Station, in that area there are numerous wholesale markets. There is a map on this site gzshopper.com/tag/guangzhou_railway_station plus details of four of the malls, but there are many more there too. Directly opposite the railway station is a wholesale mall which specialises in korean style, sorry but I dont remember the name, I just remember crossing the road via an underground tunnel, walking out of that and then into a mall. Quality looked good, but that was a year ago.

For manufacturers, maybe look on alibaba?

Travel to there is simple, just take the metro. There are a few hotels in that area, but I have never stayed in any of them so cant make a recommendation.

Thank you for your reply.

This is my first time travelling to GZ, so need more information.

1) How long it take from prime district to guangzhou railway station?

2) How is the road traffic in GZ and how much is the taxi rate? Are they expensive?

3) In the wholesale market, do they accept credit card and net? Or is it cash only? Are there atm machines around?

4) Any good food around the wholesale markets which I can have my meals?

5) How is the weather in Feb? It is cold or warm?

1) The train station is in one of the "prime districts", whatever that means.

2) traffic jam once in a while like other big cities. Not expensive but depends on how you define "expensive" for sure.

3) Not sure whether everyone accepts credit card, but for sure some do.

4) It is a pretty chaotic area (main train station, long distant bus station, wholesale markets). Most are small restaurants and fast food for passengers. I usually prefer to go a bit farther to find food. At the north entrance of Liu Hua Park, there's a Cantonese restaurant called 唐苑酒家 (Tang Yuan Restaurant). Good food with medium price.

5) Feb is still early spring. Thus colder than summer in general.

Cash and carry, no credit card, no money no talk, I think that us prety standard on all wholesale markets worldwide. Since you plan to carry the goods, you will not be buying much anyway.

Taxis are cheap. Many cheap hotels by train station, busy area but not a nice area.

Locals generally do NOT go to wholesale market to buy cloth, they buy in stores. These are true wholesale markets, not bargain markets.

Factories are NOT in Guangzhou, they are far away all over China. GZ is the wholesale central, shops from all over China and around the world go there to buy for their stores, mainly SE Asian, HK, Taiwan, African buyers. Wholesale shops in other parts of China also buy in GZ and then wholesale to stores in their areas back home. Store buyers walk into wholesale shops, take merchandise by dozen or cases, pay cash and carry goods away. Some shops will sell retail, some have signs says NO RETAIL.

Why don't you go there and see, there are many cheap hotels by train station. I have stayed in 2 hotels near train station, one was a Chinese class 2 stars about 15 years ago, it was OK. One was a Marriot's Hotel China which was excellent but expensive, bus depot next door, very convenient if you need to go to HK from Guangzhou. Dongfeng is next door, a huge high quality Chinese hotel.

Only you know how deep is your pocket and what is your standard. Read the TA reviews. Use online map.

If your goal is saving money, just walk up to any of those cheap hotels and ask.
