Ballet to watch in Moscow and St Petersburg

Moscow - 21 March 2013

St Petersburg – 22, 24, 25 March 2013

Thanks!

I have checked the Bolshoi theatre in Moscow. Though they are showing Der Rosenkavalier on the day it appears all tickets are already sold out.

Are there any other good places in Moscow to watch Ballet or Opera?

Mikhailovsky theatre is showing Cipollino on 22 March 2013. I have not heard of this ballet? Is this good?

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

This is one of the best ballet for children.

Performance on the highest level. But be prepared that the hall will be a lot of children.

Ballet for children is not street actors. Level of dance is very high. I attended Cinderella ballet with my daughter. Ballet was just perfect.

The tickets can reappear on the site later, but it's not a ballet anyway...

Traclball- Thanks for your reply. Shame the two places you mentioned in Moscow is not showing Ballet or Opera on 21 March. I will be going with my parents so Cipollino may not be ideal but if I cannot find anything else I will consider watching this ballet.

Marassa – Thanks for the information about the possibility of the tickets reappearing at a later date. I would prefer to see a ballet but would be open to see an opera as well.

We did not know you were coming. If we had known earlier, we would have prepared better. :) we are ashamed

How about classic music?

You don't mention the Mariinsky.

Unless you are a ballet aficionado or an opera devotee for you the venue will be more important than the performance. Which means the Bolshoi or its sister ship in SPB - the Mariinsky (Kirov). As grand as it gets, the both of them.

PS: They are performing Richard Strauss in Russia? How abt that
