visiting st petersburg july 2013 for 4 nights

I have a few questions-

which synagogues offer shabbat services ?

could you recommend a hotel within walking distance of a synagogue for friday night or sat service ?

Do you recommend a kosher resturant /

Thanks

The central synagogue in 2 Lermontovsky prospect does have morning Saturday services at 10.00 local time; there is a kosher restaurant Lechaim in the same building.

Hotels in a walking distance: Alexander House, Ambassador - both 4* level; a cheaper version (not so close) - the Azimut; among more luxurious options - Renaissance Baltic, Angleterre, Astoria, W, Domina Prestige (the closest) - all 5*

Hotel Premier http://spbhotel.com/en I think is the closest to the Synagogue – only 5 minutes walking. On the website you will see two hotels (brunches of the same hotel) with the same name. You should choose one in 4 Soyza Pechatnikov. It’s a very small hotel with only 12 rooms. Don’t think it’s expensive.

One time this hotel was suggested to my guests by someone from the Synagogue.

We live near the Synagogue, and your best bet is the Marriott St Petersburg Pushkin. It's a 10-15 min walk to the temple, and rates are usually reasonable while the hotel is new and Marriott predictable. Renaissance, W, Astoria are just about the same distance, but in the opposite direction, and more expensive. Do not consider anything else, certainly not Russian hotels in the neighborhood.

There are only two kosher restaurants that I know of in the city:

Le'Chiam

Address: Lermontovsky ave. 2

City center of Saint Petersburg

Phone: +7(812)572-56-16

Restaurant type: Meat

Hechsher from: Rabbinical Supervision

Kashrut level: Glatt

Mashgiah: Ortodox

80 seats

Meat restaurant with grill in the court of Choral synagogue. Israeli and ashkenazic kitchen. There is also a kosher shop.

---------------

Shalom

Address: Koli Tomchaka str. h. 8

Phone: +7-812-327-5475

Website: http://www.shalomkosher.spb.ru/

Restaurant type: Meat

Hechsher from: rabbi of Saint-Petersburg Menahem-Mendel Pevzner

Kashrut level: Glatt

Mashgiah: Tmidi

Shalom kosher restaurant of St. Petersburg is luxury place with typical European Jewish style food.

Regarding hotels, there are several but of differing facilities. The Courtyard by Marriott is a little longer walk than a few other small hotels. One is the Matisov Domik, another is the Red Star and the Rinaldi by Mariinsky all within 3 blocks.

Golden Café . Kosher food in Saint-Petersburg.

Golden Cafe is a kosher restaurant located in the historical center of Saint-Petersburg – on Lermontovsky prospect, 27. Here in the comfortable and nice halls, viewing the menu with a delicious jewish cuisine you will have a pleasant lunch or dinner with close friends or business partners.
