Tranferring from DME to SVO Airport

I am flying into DME and then want to book a flight to St. Petersburg. It seems like I cannot fly out of DME but would have to go to SVO. Has anybody done this transfer and if so how long does it take? Also what does it cost by private taxi?

Luckily it's not true that there are no flights to St.Pete from DME. Try http://www.pulkovo.ru/en/ and http://www.transaero.ru/en/index.html, for example.

It's true there are more flights to St.Pete from SVO but by travelling from DME to SVO, around 60km either through or around Moscow which is both normally jammed as hell, you might secure yourself a very long and tiresome journey.

You should have at least 5 hours to get safely from DME to SVO domestic, unless at night. Should your connection be around 10pm-6am some 2.5 hours will be a safe bet - in this, and only in this case this might be an ok solution.

Look forward to pay onward from 130USD with official taxi. It might be slightly less with a private one - but your Russian has to be fluent to negotiate. Drivers don't speak English.

Short summary: don't mess with transferring between the most distant airports around a 12million city, choose either DME or SVO and enjoy your trip.
