Philippine islands

Visited Boracay Island a couple of years ago and stayed at the Boracay Regency. The holiday was fabulous and just wanting to know of other island resorts similar. We liked the compactness of the island with lots of bars and restaurants and just wondering if there is something similar with attractions off the beach as well. Thank you to all that reply.

Nothing will be quite as commercialised as Boracay in the Philippines.

Other suggestions include Alona Beach Bohol and El Nido Palawan.

If you are looking for Islands dont discount one of my favourites Siquijor but no bars or nightlife. Coco Grove Resort is a lovely place to stay.

Siquijor is fabulous. Look up 'Siquijor Island' on TA. The Coco Grove website has ferry times from Dumaguete (City). The resort has a cultural show on Saturday night during its peak season (roughly January to March, then presumably Holy week as well if in April).

Malapascua Island is challenging to get to (five hours by bus then 45 minutes by ferry, clambering over rocks and possibly other boats at Maya to reach the ferry) and it is dominated by foreign run small 'resorts' (much to TA member YouLiveOnlyOnce's chagrin) but it has a beach the equal of those on Siquijor.

Hi, my husband and I would like to go to Philippine for 7 nights at the end of November 2013. Any suggestion where and what to do: such as diving, bars, restaurants and shopping. This is the first time we are going. We haven't got any ideas of the country.

Thanks for the advices.
