When we did our research a month ago it was the Manila Hotel, the rate was great but although the hotel looks wonderful we didn't want to stay in that area so didn't book it.

I booked it about a month ago for last Friday and it is indeed the Manila Hotel and a lovely hotel to stay in, well worth the price!

Thanks for the replies people, just reading through the reviews now. Is the hotel in a good location for a first time tourist having a look in and around Manila?

Usual_Suspect9 Manila Hotel is a great hotel and only a short taxi ride to Robinsons Plaza. Request a room with a bayview. A restaurant which is walkable from the hotel is Harbourside which is right in the bay.

Avoid contact with touts like above.
