Tennis courts and tennis partners...

Hi there,

I will be visiting the Philippines after 28 years living abroad. I am an avid tennis player USTA rating of 4.0 and would like to know where can I play tennis during my stay ans perhaps anyone I can play with. I am arriving on the 21st of December thru Jan 19th. I will be staying in Makati and Teachers Village. I appreciate any feedback. If you can also provide non-member fees as well. Salamat in advance.

In Makati, the good courts that I've seen/played at are at the Manila Polo Club in Forbes Park (www.manilapolo.com.ph), Makati Sports Club www.makatisportsclub.com) and Rockwell Club (www.therockwellclub.com). Near Teacher's Village would be Celebrity Sports Club (www.celebritysportsclub.com), Quezon City Sports Club (www.quezoncitysportsclub.com) and UP Tennis club adjacent to the College of Engineering. All are exclusive clubs though and in general you'd have to be in the company of a member. Most courts have trainers that you can play with for am hourly fee just in case. I'm just not sure if UP is still open to the public since the renovation. For additional resources, you may check this site:

One more option is Philippine Columbian Association in Paco, Manila.

As bryanpark pointed out, these are exclusive clubs whose facilities are for the use of members and their guests, so you would have to be with a member in order to play. Manila Polo Club and Rockwell Club in particular are very very exlusive. You may have a better chance to play in Philippine Columbian and Makati Sports though as they are less exclusive.

Here's another site for reference on Philippine Tennis:

Philippine Columbian is supposed to be the home of the biggest local tennis tournament in the Philippines.
