Walvis Bay airport to Swakopmund

Does anyone have any advice re reliable & relatively inexpensive ways to get from Walvis Bay airport to Swakopmund? Does any companies do airport transfers? Or is hiring a car our best option? (we're joining a tour from Swakopmund so will not require the car after that..)

Thanks

Most guesthouses will organise a pick up from the airport if you ask them.

You can also try www.walvisbayshuttle.com. Bit expensive, but reliable.

Contact Rainer at Raiwin Transfers, a reliable transfer company in Swakopmund.

raiwin@iway.na

It's also cheaper than hiring a vehicle for one day.

When we arrived there in June 2012 there were "taxis" available out front -- individuals driving their own cars. Just tell them WHERE exactly you want to go and HOW MUCH TOTAL. My wife and I paid 220 Namibia dollars / Rand each to go to A La Mer Hotel in Swapo. Since we didn't have $N we said we needed to first go to an ATM. She was fine with that. Turned out she was a single mother and this was her primary source of income. We joined another traveler going to Swapo and enjoyed the conversation during the short trip...

Just to update others who may be looking for similar info -

Both www.walvisbayshuttle.com and Raiwin transfer quoted R180 per person from Walvis Bay to Swakopmund.

FYI- Going in June 2013 and found a resource that shows some other companies to consider as well

namibia-tour-guide.com/namibiashuttleservice…

I welcome fresh information and pricing

Might Email them to ask if this includes luggage and how much luggage. Spoke with some others who paid more after adding price for luggage.
