Hotels don't usually organise tours etc themselves. They usually have tour operators who come in each day for a couple of hours to help guests with bookings.

The concierge at your hotel can arrange most things for you but to get the best price you would need to look at various tour operators to see what's on offer.

Meant to add the following website for the Walking with Lions experience,

www.safari-adventures-mauritius.com

although it is something we don't recommend or encourage on the forum. There have been reports of the animals being hit with sticks and it has upset some visitors. Lions are not indigenous to Mauritius, they are brought over from a zoo in South Africa, so personally I don't find it a must see/do activity.

However if you are interested it is something you may need to pre-book before you arrive. Transport to and from you would have to organise yourselves, either car hire to taxi.

Mazza is right - we don't recommend this activity.

Besides reports of some cruelty to the lions at least one keeper was mauled and a tourist (though apparently the company said it was the tourist's own fault for not following the rules)

Just came across a local news story - a British woman was attacked by a cheetah at Casela this week.

Not good news, Bronia. We've all thought that it was just a matter of time before this happened.

I've not seen anything in our UK press yet, only a matter of time if she's been for treatment back home.

I cant see it in Defi now either.

It made me smile that the owners said she was just interacting with the cat ;)

Some interaction if she had to have treatment in a clinic.

Just done a quick Google search and came across this, but it's dated May 2012 - so not the first time these "tame" big cats have turned.
