The 'weekend market' or 'Sunday market' is no longer where it used to be (you might already know this) It won't have the same ambience and character of its previous location in the streets of Satok. Its now housed in a purpose built building a little further from town (across the river)

You could take a cab, as its quite a distance to walk. Might cost you around RM15. Whether its worth going depends on what you are wanting to get out of it really.

There is a weekend market at Seriken - about an hour from Kuching - lots of crafts and 'gifts' plus loads for stuff from Indonisia - the border is 4km from the market. There is also lots of tat & junk.

Just before the Seriken market is a jungle market - worth stopping to have a look. Think it is about 5 k from Seriken - you will see it on both side of the road.

1. For Sunday Market or Weekend Market now is moving to Medan Kubah Ria....... This market start business on Saturday Morning till Sunday mid afternoon. I suggest you take taxi going there, the cost for taxi is RM15 (please ask the rate first, before you take the taxi). In this Sunday Market you will find a lot of local product, vegetable, fruits & etc, like Sarawak Layer Cake (Kek Lapis), Ikan Terubok Masin (fresh salt fish), Bidin (jungle vegetable), .......

2. For Serikin Border Trade Market is located at Serikin, Malaysia. Every Saturday and Sunday, a lot of Indonesian will sell their local product or Indonesia products in this market. From Kuching going to Serikin is about 1 hour 45 minutes.

Have a nice trip and Ooo Haa........

Not a fan of the serikin market, a lot of very mediocre stuff on sale and also unfortunately and shamefully some of the sellers also have turtle eggs (which are illegal) The road the market is on is public and still open to traffic during market hrs so can be annoying with vehicles zooming past. Oh and finally, the touts at the parking area can be aggressive so watch out if you do decide to go here (but if you aren't driving this shouldn't be an issue)
