Solo female traveler

Hi everybody.

I am interested to travel alone to Kota Kinabalu in begining of November... Could someone tell me whats the weather like at this time? Is it a rainy season?

Also is there an airport? How would I travel from KL? Or what would be the best option to reach KK from Abu Dhabi/ Dubai?

Thanks :-)

There is an international airport at Kota Kinabalu. it is the second busiest in Malaysia. You can fly from KL either with Air Asia or Malaysia airlines.

The weather will probably be warm. humid with a storm in the late afternoon of evening.

For flights from Abu Dhabi/ Dubai google airline web sites.

Malaysia airlines fly from both locations to KL.

Hi!

I'm currently travelling solo and in Kota Kinabalu. I think I got a bit unlucky as it looks like it will rain for most of my stay but don't let that put you off. Rained all day yesterday and ended up treating my self to a spa day. Going to mount Kinabalu forest tomorrow and bought a waterproof jacket+addidas kampung from Suriya mall just incase it does rain and then heading to Kuching. Most of the clothes I brought with me are sports leggings /vest tops which are fast drying so if you get caught in the rain while trekking then no biggie :)

There is a saying...when the rains come, dance with the rain.

Are going for the submit climb? If yes trybto reach the base camp by 3pm cos it tends to rain abit and it can be cold.

Good luck

Tijana S,

Have a look at the FAQ's for more help about your future stay.

The weather varies along the Malaysian coast it will also depend where you are.

If you are staying in Kota Kinabalu(KK) you have plenty of places to shelter from the rain and A/con in lots of building to cool down from the heat.

I have been in November one day it was 39 degrees very hot sun and very humid, that night it rained non-stop for two days, mostly it is as Big w mentioned.

Have a look on the internet for Sabahbah.com, MySabah.com, u-tube also has video that is worth watching.

You will get a feel of Sabah before you go.

Anything else then just re-post here.

The best way to reach KK from Dubai may be with Royal Brunei which is the only airline based on the island of Borneo. Royal Brunei flies from Dubai to Brunei (BSB) and there is are connecting flights to KK. You should be able to get a return ticket Dubai to KK through Royal Brunei.
