Penang Jewelers

HI, my wife and i will be in Penang in March/April and we were thinking of taking some gold rings and earrings to a jeweler to be remade into something else.

Is there anybody who can suggest a reputable jeweler/gold seller please?

thanks

G'day stevo,can\t think of any jeweller offhand but Campbell Street in Georgetown is packed to the rafters with jewelry shops.

You'll be spoilt for choice.

There is also an unusual jewelry artist by the name of Jonathan Yun who is a modern craftsman inspired by nature and Peranakan motifs. He is located at 88 Armenian St.

I bought one of his ready made Kerongsang Ibus (clothing pins) for my wife's birthday and then commissioned a one off piece for our anniversary. I am very impressed by his choices and attention to detail:

G'day stevo. If you do venture down Armenian Street, walk down

it.Start from Lebuh Pantal and just take a casual stroll.

Many people take a trishaw and tear through the street

and miss out on the street art (two kids on a bike)art galleries,

the Yap Khongsi Temple,The Straits Collection and the museum.

Thirty or so years ago you wouldn't even have looked at this street, now it is a must see.
