Hotel near beansprout chicken eateries

Hi, anyone can recommend a decent hotel near those beansprout chicken eateries? i.e. walking distance.

Read about the Buntong beansprout chicken, and another one at Cowan Street. Are they near one another?

Thanks!

Buntong is quite far away from the city, near first garden. You definitely need a cab there.

But Cowan street (now known as Jalan raja Ekram) and chinatown (onn kee, lou wong) is quite close to each other, around 500m. Here is a map on walking instruction between the two

maps.google.com/maps…

Not sure what you mean by decent hotel, but there are a few hotels around. But I would suggest that you stay somewhere near greentown or near ipoh parade shopping centre. You could try looking at the Syuen hotel, regalodge, Ipoh tower regency for example. These hotels are close to other good food and restaurants (ming kok, foo san dim sum; tong sui kai, ipoh parade, greentown business centre etc). Syuen is the older hotel, but good location (as well as the Excelsior down the road). Tower regency is much newer. Don't expect 4* standard in ipoh hotels, most of them are well, "small town" standards with exception to a few hotels.

Thanks Global_traveller2000.

We will only arrive in Ipoh on 19 Oct late afternoon, spend 1N & off to Cameron the next morning. So, we won't have much time to wonder around Ipoh, jus want to have some good beansprout chicken for dinner & may b tim sum for b'fast the next morning.

We need a basic but comfortable & clean hotel, as we have a 3 year old child travelling with us. Will consider those hotels you mentioned above.

Hi ray, I assume you will have a car?

then best take a look at regalodge (new rooms, decent hotel), which quite close to Ming kok dim sum (400m walking distance) and cowan street beansprouts/lou wong ( less than 1km, you can easily drive or walk).

have a great time in ipoh and CH!

We plan to hire a car only on 20 Oct, to drive to CH & back to Ipoh. We will stay 1N at Hotel De La Ferns at CH, hope that's a good choice. Any good food to recommend at CH?

Thank u so much for the ever helpful info!!

Hi blur88,

Our trip in Oct was good, but too short. 2N in Cameron would have been ideal.

Ipoh: We stayed 1N at Tower Regency. No complaint abt the room but b'fast was lousy. We had wanted to stay at Regalodge as the reviews were good & they had room rates without b'fast (so tt we could have tim sum outside instead), but they had no king-bed which we needed. We had dinner at Onn Kee - taugeh chicken & hor fun. It was GOODDDD!

Cameron: We stayed 1N at Hotel de la Fern, a relatively new boutique hotel. Room was clean & b'fast was good. Definitely recommend it. We visited the Sg Palas tea plantation (this is a must & good view fr the cafe), a bee farm, a butterfly farm, the Kea farm & of cos a strawberry farm. The berries were v good & juicy. We were told bcos it was a week day, less visitors, so, the berries were in abundance, hence riped, big & juicy. Would b otherwise for weekends & holiday seasons. So if u r going in Dec, the place may b rather congested with visitors.

We flew Fireflyz to Ipoh & back (no problem.... flight was comfortable) & rented a car for the whole trip (pick up & drop off at airport as well).

Hope u have an enjoyable trip as well!
