Holiday in Langkawi

Just returned from a 10 day holiday to KL,Langkawi and Singapore. Was my first time there.KL was great from a shopping point of view ( especially during the MegaMalaysia sale!!). Langkawi was fabulous. Stayed at the Sheraton Langkawi resort and we couldn't fault anything. Service was excellent, staff very friendly and courteous, room was wonderful ( had an obviously refurbished room). Food at night was very good although it was more expensive than other resturants found on the island. Hired scooters which is a great way to see the island. Most people very courteous towards scooters and very easy to get around. Unfortunatly the cable car was closed fro two days so we couldn't experience that. Did go to Palua Payer which I found a bit too commercialised. Shopping in Kuah is not nearly as good as Kl or Sing. All in all I think the Malaysians are far more service orientated than in Singapore and definatly more friendly!! Really hope to return one day!!

Sounds like you had a great trip. Shame you did not manage to get access to the cable car trip, presume it was closed because of the rainy weather ?

Kuah could never match KL or Singapore for shopping, it is just to small a town.

Many of the Sheraton staff are actually from Indonesia, all the resorts are now trying to scale down on foreign workers, and now trying to invest more on local staff.

Hope maybe one day you can come for a return visit, maybe the cable car will be open if you do. It is worth doing.
