Family trip and hotels

Hi All...we are a family of 6 (including 2 kids of 10 & 11yrs old)looking to stay in Langkawi for a week in Dec. Have not decided where to stay. On one hand we would love to stay at the private resorts with the pools and view...but we also love to explore the shops and restaurants(obviously cheaper options lol). The private resorts I reckon would be far away from the local areas.(hopefully, theres complimentary shuttle buses etc) Headache! Appreciate the kind advice.

Hi

Before we can give any advice we would need some idea of your budget. December is a very busy time on the island and lots of the hotels are already booked for that period.

Try looking at some of the hotels in Pantai Cenang/Pantai Tengah as these are all in walking distance to shops and restaurants.

Perhaps Frangipani, Holiday Villa, Federal Villa or Sunset Beach would be suitable but you need to make a choice as soon as possible.

resort hotels close to restaurants and shops are meritus pelangi, holiday villas, federal villas and frangipani. for a lower budget, check out fave hotel, la pari-pari and green village, all of which have some sort of swimming pool and food outlet, but are not true 'resorts'.

sunset beach, tropical resort, and casa fina are worth looking at, at the lower-priced end of the market, but they are not 'resorts' and do not have pools.

as lesley says - choose soon - availability is limited in december.
