Car rental in langkawi

Hi,

i am coming to langkawi in the middle of may and will be planning to rent car to drive during my six days stay here. I saw the internet price for renting a myvi auto is 128rm. Will it be cheaper to rent down there? The price is under Kasinas. Hope to hear from you guys for advice. thank you. Is May consider low tourist season too?

Hi

There are numerous car rental agencies in the arrivals hall at the airport when you arrive.

Check them out for prices. Could be cheaper than Kasina.

Hi

As Lesley says, there are plenty to choose from at the airport.

Kasina is considered one of the best, but they are generally more expensive than others.

Personally, I use Indra which I have found to be top notch.

Expect to pay no more than RM80 for a Myvi.

Happy planning

I rented the Proton Kembara (a mini SUV 4x4) for 125RM or so in Feb2012 - from Kasina. The SUV was almost brand new - and I think having an SUV gives a different feel to the traveling - as you are on a higher level.

Think about it.

And yes - May is indeed low tourist season - hotel rates are definitely lower.

Hi all,

thanks for the suggestions. I read lots of reviews and seems Kasinas always have cars in top notch and low mileage. By the way do i need to purchase CDW (collision wavier damage)?

Hi, we rented a small car from Kasina when we were in Langkawi a couple of weeks ago.

I highly recommend pre-booking as the car rental people at the airport are pretty full on and it's not the most pleasant way to start your holiday after such a long flight. It was nice to already have it sorted.

We took all the insurance as comparatively car rental is just so cheap anyway. We probably could of got a better deal but were just happy to have a hassle free time.

See what we paid below:

Make & model of vehicle :Grp D - Perodua Myvi 1.3 Automatic

Rental duration : 8 days ( 1 day free)

Pick up date/time : 9 Apr 2012/ 08:30 hrs

Arrival flight : ETA 08:30 Hrs

Drop off date/time : 16 Apr 2012 / 17:00 hrs

Pick up location : Kasina rental counter, inside arrival hall Langkawi Airport

Drop off location : Langkawi

Rental Rate (RM) : 128.00 ( less 20%) +18.00*CDR

: 120.40 per day

Total for 7 days : 120.40 X 7 = RM 842.80 + 18.00

: RM 860.80 nett

Yes - I second Craig's mail - prebooking makes it so hassle free.

We arrived at LGK after a long flight - and our rental papers etc and the car itself were all ready to go with kasina's staff when we approached them. In fact, the car type (as mentioned above) was also pre selected by us during prebooking and we also paid an advance - I think one day's rent - if I remember correctly.

One point - the actual car return was a bit confusing, there is no separate car return area at LGK airport. I had to park the car and get inside arrivals to approach Kasina staff.

It is best to sort this out while renting the car itself. Best to call them when you are returning the car.

Have fun!
