Holiday questions - hotel, taxi and food prices

Hi guys,

We're going to Langkawi in Nov with our 6 month old baby. We have some questions to ask:

1) How much should we expect to pay for a taxi from airport to Westin?

2) How much should we expect to pay for a taxi from Datai to airport? Are hotel taxis more expensive or should we just call for a normal taxi?

3) How expensive should a taxi be from Westin to Datai?

4) Are taxi drivers there honest and drive safely? Because we have our baby with us, will we be okay without a safety baby carseat?

5) How expensive is the food and drinks at Datai? What other hotels/restaurants are near the Datai?

6) Is it very inconvenient to go from our hotel room to the pool that is to be used for children? Heard kids are not allowed at the main pool so it is a far walk to the other pool? Is there a complimentary shuttle?

7) Are there well priced spas near Westin or Datai? Would love a massage.

8) Its hubby's birthday while we're staying in Westin....any suggestions for a nice place for lunch and dinner? Happy to go out of hotel for a special birthday meal.

Thanks for your help!

Dear The Perrys,

many questions at once....

Taxi Westin - Airport about 30 Ringgit

Datai's taxis charge about double to normal taxis but they use the servcie of Kasina Car Rental. Their cars are in excellent condition and if you ask in advance, they will have a seater for the baby.

The taxi drivers here are 99,95 honest!

Food at the Datai is exquisite but very expensive. Maybe slightly cheaper than in a comparabel place in Australia.

Only Andaman next to the Datai.

Anadaman is more kids friendly than Datai.

Datai and Andaman have golf buggies to get you around. This is free of charge.

Sorry,

I missed a few points:

Taxi from Datai to Kuah costs about 130 Ringgit; normal taxis charge about 70 Ringgit.

There are some cheaper spas in Kuah but the best is Rumah Holistic near Pantai Tengah.

I go to Alun Alun Spa opposite of Casa del Mar frequently.

For a special dinner I go to Bon Ton/Temple Tree but Casa del Mar has also an exquisite restaurant.

In walking distance of Westin is only the Royal Langkawi Yacht Club. A beer costs about 7 Ringgit here; at the Westin it is more than 20 Ringgit!
