Its a great place we leave for tbbc next saturday, we have been going for 9 years now :-)

Very family friendly, set on a lovely beach, very clean, excellent food, brilliant watersports facilities, good diving school and 5 star staff, they really are a credit to this hotel !

There are many repeat guests, we are meeting up with quite a few couples this year who we have met over the years, we will have a blast !

Lots to do and see in the local area, quite safe to venture outside during the day or night, we tend to go out every night to some of the local bars, there are a few within walking distance but if you go down to village you need to take a taxi (very cheap), 2 night clubs in the village but they don't really get going till after midnight !

Some really good schools to visit and orphanages as well, very rewarding to visit and they really need our help at the moment, its not pens and pencils they need, its food ! we buy locally and take it where its needed :-)

Some good places to eat as well, choma villiage is superb !! Ascot is good as well, they do great pizzas, we also eat out at ocean sports a 10 minute walk down the beach (again superb food) and probably the best view of the bay.

Lots of good info and videos on the official website, apologies if you have already looked

some photos of tbbc and watamu on the next links, please ignore the silly ones :-) lol

Oh and they have added a new pool recently (over 18's only) a perfect addition to the other excellent pool.

We don't wear anything special for safari ! but avoid bright colours, neutral colours are best but bear in mind it can get cold early in the morning ! so a light fleece will come in handy and you get covered in dust whilst on safari, you have to be careful whilst changing lenses on safari as well !

Anything else you want to know just ask :-) or send me a PM

Everything Smudger has said about TBBC is true. Just returned last night - first time & it won't be our last!

Have been to many places around the world but nothing compares to the staff at this hotel. They make the place. Everyone so incredibly friendly & fantastic service.

Rooms could do with a bit of updating but they are clean & everything you need is there.

Beach was a bit disappointing - lots of seaweed but last couple of days this started to clear so we did get a glimpse of what it can be like.

Did 4 day safari which again was excellent. Will be putting reviews on in next couple of days.

True the weed can be bad at times of the year, this is seasonal but the winds should be swinging to south soon which takes it all away :-) you see very little after november , we,ve found july/august to be quite bad for the weed sometimes, however not as bad as the northern part of the bay near blue bay resort (italian) , also is usually only bad on the highest tides of the month, we've been in august and in some years have hardly seen any at all, seems like its pot luck !

This next photo was taken 2nd sept, no weed !

I would agree with everyone. We went for our first trip in August(sorry haven't yet done a review) only downside was the seaweed. Staff are lovely and service amazing, especially if you are nice to them. Saw some holiday makers being quite rude...totally uncalled for! We ventured out a few times and had a few chats with the beach boys. Some of the guests are really wary of the beach boys but you don't need to be. We went across to the local village with them..take some gifts for the children, they especially like things from England(sweets, pens etc) we also exchanged our points at the hotel shop for little gifts for the staff to give the local orphanage. I wish we'd taken some of our "old" clothes that the children have grown out of that are still in good condition. Also the beach boys will ask for some of your toiletries at the end of your holiday, which we gladly gave.

Would love to go back but will probably wait a few years and experience other countries/activities before the children leave us but yes we have been bitten by the bug too! Amazing country, amazing people.

Its much better to give the kids fruit instead of sweets, whilst they may like them, not good for their teeth.

Not criticizing you Merlin :-)

There is no way that any of the village kids will ever get chance to see a dentist

yes a fantastic place to stay and staff are very friendly. there is no problem with the boys on the beach and a good place to get great trips and safari deals or just have a chat. a walk in to watamu is worth doing with a drink in jambo bar. there is only one night club in watamu now which is the come back bar as happy nights closed over 2 years ago but there is a new one near ocean sports called kalaharie. but there is plenty of entertainment to keep you amused at tbbc. have a good time

Hi Smudger 888

I understand the turtle bay has got a private beach are the beach boys allowed on there, had a bad time when we went to gambia a few years ago .

Hi WooWoo73,

We are hoping to go to the TBBC in September 2010, so may see you there. We are still in the planning stage but this is definately on the list.

It seems a long way off but it will come around sooner enough.

Cheers

we are staying at tbbc at the moment and its fantastic ! the beach boys are not allowed on the private beach and its also possible to have your sunbed on the public beach itself, even then the beach boys don't hassle you as the hotel security will not allow them to encroach on you
