What to do with a long layover in Almaty?

Does anyone have an suggestions with what do you with a 9 hour (12am-9am) layover in Almaty?

Do I:

Sleep in the terminal?

Get a hotel?

Is there a hourly hotel?

Or spa in the airport?

Hello, please don't try to explore Almaty in the night. Almaty is a nice city, but it's not safe in the dark time - there are a lot of immigrants from Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan,or kazakhstan towns in Almaty. The criminal situation in Almaty is not good now. Please read the news, one weak before two policemen were killed by gangsters. Aksunkar hotel is a good variant. Or if you have a frind with a car here, everything will be fine.

There are a lot of english speaking visitors in Guns'n'Roses Pub in Almaty. A very nice place with a live music. Is situated in the hotel named "Kazakhstan 4*" (Lenin street across Abay street).

I've been in Almaty for 7 months and I've never seen an ATM that didn't give me the option to choose English. Maybe it's different nearer to the airport (although I wouldn't be surprised), but that hasn't been my experience.

Re: #24

Not many English speakers at all. Bring your phrasebook / translator

If in doubt, order the logman.
