Where to stay in Tokyo

My friend and I are visiting Tokyo in mid May for 6 days. We are both girls in our late 20s and want to experience as much as we possibly can. Would like to stay somewhere easily accessible for all major attractions with a good choice of restaurants and bars close by. Can anybody give me any help on what area to choose? Thanks in advance!

I would recommend Shinjuku area. It has lots of shopping and dining options, plus it's near Shibuya and Harajuku (all shopping districts). Shinjuku is a transport hub for trains/buses for day trips to places like Hakone and Mt. Fuji.

If you are coming from Narita and taking NEX trains, maybe you can consider staying near Tokyo station or Ueno area.

Happening fun places, lots of people til late, transport hub: Shinjuku, Shibuya, while Ikebukuro has more budget hotels but it's not as nice overall

Classy place, less happening, transport hub: Ginza/Shimbashi

Older charming neighborhoods, more hostels: Asakusa, Ueno

Business districts transport hubs, less interesting overall: Tokyo, Shinagawa
