Tour Guide for Mt Fuji-Hakone-Kyoto

We have very limited time in Japan and want to see Mt Fuji, Hakone and overnite in Kyoto. Normally, I hate guided tours, but because of time constaints, I feel this is the best way to go.

I have looked at viator.com and kensington Tours. Can someone recommend a company that offers guided tours and great hotels for small groups or even a private tour operator, except that I would want guided tour in Kyoto also.

If your time is limited, you might skip Fuji/Hakone. The combined tour is a very long day, with no assurance that you will even see the mountain (even when standing on it!). Haze and clouds are especially bad in the summer.

For Kyoto, enter KYOTO TOUR GUIDES in the Japan Forums search box. I saw a couple of good suggestions there. For the hotel, how about the Kyoto Granvia http://www.granviakyoto.com/ Right at the train station, great reviews: tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g298564-d107118…

Hakone would take a full day. If your time is limited, ditto Roger's advice -- skip it and go to Kyoto only.

You can see Mt. Fuji (if it's a nice day) from the bullet train. Sit on the right side of the train going TO Kyoto (seats D and E) and on the left side when coming back to Tokyo. But chances are, you'll be returning in the evening!

Thank both of you. I was wondering if Mt. Fuji was worth the day and you have fully answered that question. I have Kyoto Granvia on my list and I appreciate the other sites for tours.
