Picking up a car at Tokyo Station (or thereabouts)

I intend to come in to Tokyo on the bullet train from Kyoto and would like to rent a car. Does anyone know if there are any car rental agencies close to Tokyo station? Would rather pick it up in town than then have to drop it at the airport on the way back.

There are rental places close to Tokyo station. However, it's a bad idea to rent a car from central Tokyo in general. The streets are complex and traffic is usually busy to bad. If you intend to drive within central Tokyo, then you will find public transport is much more efficient and less costly than a car. If you intend to drive to somewhere outside Tokyo, then consider taking the train to somewhere just outside Tokyo for the car pickup. For example, Omiya works well for destinations north of Tokyo. Odawara would be a good choice for Atami and Hakone.

Public transport is really good though even going beyond Tokyo so a car can be more of a hindrance than a tool. Just keep that in mind. Post your itinerary for further feedback.
