Aside from the style of hotels, Citadines is in the north-eastern end of Shinjuku (a bit quiet, 5-7 min away from the main shopping area) while Hyatt is at the west end (in the office area among high-rise buildings).

If you don't mind taking a subway (1 station from Shinjuku) or a cab (a 600-700 yen ride)from Shinjuku station, it's not difficult to get to Citadines from the airport. While you're in Tokyo, you can use either Shinjuku 3-chome or Shinjuku-Gyoen station of subway Marunouchi line.

We have booked Citadines for 22 April (our last night in Japan) mostly because it will be new, have a little more room than the standard Tokyo hotel room and because the price is unbeatable at the moment with their introductory rates.

I found the best price on Wotif.com which is better than their own website.

Not been to Japan yet so can not comment on the location but like others have said for this good price you can pay a bit for subway or taxis.

When are you going Sophia?

I will not be back home until 28 April so will not be able to write a review until then.

You probably should not leave your booking until after I get back then, you may not get in. It could be really busy then too being just after Golden Week.

We are staying at Sunroute Plaza in Shinjuku for the first 4 days of our trip, the rooms are tiny apparently but I understand that it is close to restaurants, train station and shops.

Sophia, as far as I remember (I used to live in Shinjuku before moving to Kagoshima)and see in the google streetview, convenience stores (7/11, Lawson),family restaurants (Denny's, Jonathan)and Matsuya (http://www.matsuyafoods.co.jp/english/index.html)are close-by.

A 500-600m walk along the main avenue (Yasukuni street, #302) will take you to Shinjuku 3-chome shopping area. I also suggest walking down (=south) the street (NTT's old office locates at the corner of this road and #302) toward Shinjuku Gyoen Park. There're small restaurants near/on this street. I'll post some of them. (Sorry, not all of them have an English page)
