Buses and Time constraints

Quiet part of the forum ^_^

I'm looking at the two bus lines available on this page:

but still can't decide on which bus pass to get.

The Famous Spots loop bus is cheaper and has a higher frequency... but apparently has less stops! I tried comparing the two route maps (http://translate.google.com/translate?js=y&prev=_t&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&layout=1&eotf=1&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.new-wing.co.jp%2Fkoedo%2Fkyousanten.html&sl=ja&tl=en and http://www.koedo.or.jp/foreign/english/pdf/kawagoe_loopbus.pdf), but I can't figure out the map orientation and which parts of town I won't be able to get to. Anyone familiar with the two bus lines, or able to understand both Japanese and English, who can help enlighten me?

Alternatively, is the town small enough to walk about? Will one (short) day be sufficient to take in the sights and sounds?

I'm thinking of making it as a day trip from Tokyo, and intend to head back at the end of the day to seek out a capsule hotel or a love hotel for the night.

1. Re: Buses and Time constraints

I ended up not using any of those buses, but instead just use local buses which are more frequent, and i didn't plan to use the buses all that much.

If you arrive at the Tobu station, I strongly recommend that you stop by the tourist information booth right at the station. They can recommend which buses to use and give maps, timetables and tons of useful information.

I went there spontaneously a few weeks ago so had not done any research, but they were so helpful I didn't need to! When i returned to the station to go back to Tokyo the staff recognised me and even asked me if i had enjoyed my trip!

You can definitely walk from the station to the sights if you want to, I only used buses coz it was 36 degrees - not comfortable for too much walking! I spent about 3 hours there and felt that i had seen everything i wanted to see. Perfect for a short day/half-day trip.

Arevan, thank you very much.

I shall do the same, and just hop in and enjoy myself :)
