Tours whwn staying in Aqaba?

We are going to Aqaba for one week in jan/febr 2013. Of course we are going to Petra, but what else is within reach?

And is it possible to go to Jerusalem on a day's tour?

Tips are very welcome, as we are the kind of people who love the beach - but only for a few hours, then we want to see and experience things:-)

Hi guest,

Welcome to Jordan,

From Aqaba you can visit: Petra, Wadi Rum, and Dead Sea.

You can cross the Aqaba/Eilat border, and take the bus from Eilat to Jerusalem. But that will be very long distance!! (Approx 3.5 hours from Aqaba/Eilat border to Jerusalem). You can also stay in Amman, and in the morning cross Allenby border to Jerusalem, that is much easier, and while you are there in Amman you can visit Jerash, Ajloun, Madaba, and Mt. Nebo.

Indeed, from Aqaba you can visit Petra (+/- 2 hour drive) and Wadi Rum (less than an hour drive to the visitor center). The Dead Sea is a bit further north, about a 3,5 hour drive so if you want to go back to Aqaba the same day it will be a long one. But between 2 and 4 hours at one of the day resorts there should be enough to enjoy the experience so it's doable.

Jerusalem is something else, travel time is about the same (+/- 3,5 hours) but that leaves you very little time to visit any sites. Keep in mind that at the end of January sunset is already at 5 PM !

Enjoy your stay !
