Resort

Hi

Been to Thailand for the last 2 years, thinking of a month in Vietnam.

Looking for advice on resort. Nha Trang, Phan Thiet/ Mui Ne ?

We like a nice beach to relax, but good night life.

Hope some one can help

Mui ne is fine, good long beach and plenty of resorts on the beach.Dosen't have much of a night life.Nha trang has much more night life(sailing club, why not bar,Nha trang lodge, louisianne)Also has a good choice of restaurants, western and Vietnamese.Lots more to do in Nha trang and surrounding areas, many top class islands to go to with resorts on them.Nha trang being a city,Mui ne a town.

Many of these places have web sites,so google them or search on TA.

There close to each other, about 6hrs on the bus so you could do both.

When considering a beach resort and given the amount of time you have I would do a coastal run and take in a few different places. There is night life at each of the places you are interested in. I guess its a matter of how much of a crowd you call too much. Nha Trang is very busy, Phan Tiet, Mui Ne not so unless at peak periods when they are all crazy and probably best avoided. When thinking about Mui Ne be aware that the resort area is actually Ham Tien and is an area for active people as its the Kiteboard centre for S.E.Asia. The scene is at Jibes. Mui Ne on the other hand has only a few resorts the pick of which is the well run Pandanus. Beauty of Mui Ne is that both Mui Ne and Ham Tien are on opposite sides of a penninsula that runs almost East/West and as such gives you the opportunity to go to either ends of the beachs if the wind is too strong.

If you enter VN from Hanoi then your coastal run would be Nha Trang then south to Mui Ne and a 4 hour coach trip to HCMC. If you enter from HCMC then of course its the reverse.

Bpool,

It's not as if there were no night life in Phan Thiet. The best places are in Ham Tien, as bowenarrow states and there are enough places to keep you going all night, but you don't have nearly the variety that you do in Thailand, of course.

In Ham Tien, I would start the evening at Sankara with a great dinner, good music and wonderful cocktails, right on the beach. Not too far away is WAX, so I'd stop there for a couple more drinks. Head next to Pogos to see who is there, then to DJ Station after midnight to dance the night away in an open air setting on the beach. When all is finished and you're a bit hungry, stop at Joes (Open 24 hours) for some good food and to chill out as the sun comes up.
