10 Days in Vietnam - How to Split HCMC, Da Nang & Hanoi

If you had 10 days to split between HCMC, Da Nang & Hanoi (including Halong) how would you split it? I'm flying from one city to the next so little time used in traveling within Vietnam. I'm mostly just a average tourist.

I would give two days to HCM, 4 to Hanoi including two days in Halong Bay and use the rest to go to HoiAn from Danang and Danang itself.

So ambitious to do three main regions of Vietnam in 10 days. Stay focus on one main region must be a good choice. However, If you still want to do that, then let do Ho Chi minh 3 days, Da Nang, Hoi An 3 days, then Hanoi 4 days include Ha Long Bay.

I think this is more or less how I would split it up and get late evening flights to make the most of your time, for example we flew from Hanoi to Hue at 19.20 in the evening to make the most of our time.

HCMC - 3 nights

Danang (Hoi An) - 4 nights

Hanoi - 3 nights

Halong bay - 1 night.

I would skip HCMC, 4 days in Hoi An and 6 days in Hanoi/Halong Bay

(10 days is really much too little to see much of anything!)

Truth is that you have less than 10 days (day of arrival/departure and movement within VN are really lost)

7. Re: 10 Days in Vietnam - How to Split HCMC, Da Nang & Hanoi

We arrive in Saigon mid October and due to travel agent lack of knowledge we have only 5 days in Vietnam. Is it feasible to travel (return by Plane) after our arrival in Saigon to Hoi An and explore that area rather than spending our time in Saigon. Can anyone advise approx. cost of return airfare Saigon - Hoi An and recommend accommodation in the Hoi An area. Thanks

Pammont you can checkout Vietjetair.com for cheap fares within Vietnam. My fares for below trips were around $30.

I've decided to extend the trip to 11 days

3 HCMC (with late flight to Da Nang)

4 Da Nang

4 Hanoi (1 Night 2 Day in Halong Bay)

I'd skip Hoi An unless its a day trip and limit 2 days in Hanoi and then add another night in Halong.(2 night cruise)

1 night in cruise in Ha Long Bay is good enough for the short time travel to Vietnam like OP. And Phiota, that's good and do able plan. You can take the day trip out of town in Hanoi by go to Bat trang Ceramics Village, Duong Lam Ancient Town or Perfume Pagoda, ect.

Cheers
