With regard to the Hue airport closure they are running mini buses from Da Nang airport to Hue for $6.20. The everyday buses go through a tunnel under the Hai Van Pass so if you want the scenic route it's a hire car or the train.

Hi 1960anne

I am interested to hear about the buses being run due to the airport closure. Is this a definite and how do you go about getting this bus. Do you need to book or just buy ticket at airport

Is it for passengers on the flights originally booked to Hue or are they open for anyone.

Thanks for any info

Hi Chris, I picked up this info on one of the Hue airport closure threads and also an article on the TouiTre news website. Don't know details, perhaps someone else will advise.

Rest assured, the airline will email you the detail of the alternative for Hue airport closure. Of course passengers of booked flights will be given priority to that bus service.

What lovely manners, annmix, I'm sure people will be falling over themselves to answer if they knew, which they don't as was explained in your other post.

We were booked to fly from Hue to Hanoi in july. We had not been notified of the change of flight by Vietnam Airways at all. We had a flight booked through an agent for our flight from HCM to Hue and they only notified us today of the change and gave us a choice of flight times form HCM to Danang. I then checked our booking for the flight to Hanoi on the Vietnam Airlines website and saw they had changed our flight but had not bothered to notify us. Neither operator has advised us of how we are to get to Hue or offered us any compensation for the cost of this.

LuluSEQueensland ..... It's the agents responsibility (if you used one) to notify you of any changes... and it seems they just have. Whether you accept the altered times is down to you. Just don't expect to fly to and from a closed Hue Airport (closing for repairs) with any airline. It isn't going to happen.

Like most operators / airlines / agents, you'd be lucky to get compensation from any source (including travel insurance) for a flight happening in 3 months time. Case of getting real and reorganising your itinerary. The other nearest airport to Hue is Da Nang. It's the reason you've been offered a flight there. How you go from there is something to discuss with your agent.
