Christmas in Hoi An

We will be celebrating Christmas 2013 in Hoi An and NYE in Hanoi - can't wait. Just wondering about the humidity at this time of year? Thanks.

The humidity is always high in Hanoi, but at that time of year low temperatures are a greater consideration.

Due to work commitments, this is the only time we can travel. We don't let the weather spoil our holidays.

We spent Christmas 2012 in Hanoi & NYE in Hoi an. There was no humidity in either place. Hanoi is quite cool , you need a jacket at night & some days. It is winter & can get cold. Jackets & scarves are for sale everywhere. The weather was unseasonably warm this Xmas just gone so we were lucky. Hoi an was a little warmer , t -shirts during day when sunny but also cool when overcast. The pool was icy. I did wear a summer dress to the hotel party so it's not freezing at night. The few days before in Hue were humid which was the forerunner of heavy rain. It's a beautiful time to visit and perfect for extensive sight seeing.

Louise like you we will also be there for xmas and in Hanoi for NYE which we will spend cruising Halong bay....It seems to me the weather is hit and miss for that time of year, I have asked friends who have been there around the same time and there account of the weather and humity differs vastly.

Branks, where are you staying in Hoi An and Hanoi? We have chosen the Vinh Hung Emerald Resort in Hoi An and the Art Trendy Hotel in Hanoi. We think we can walk to the NYE festivities from our hotel. And how exciting being in a different country to celebrate Christmas, our hotel is having a Christmas dinner on Christmas Eve. We have read that Christmas Day is just like a normal day to them. We are spending eight nights in Hoi An and four nights in Hanoi.
