Ferry cancelled; need hotel guidance

Our morning ferry from Rhodes to Fethiye has been cancelled, so we now have to leave Rhodes one day earlier, but in the late afternoon. We will now have a one night stay in Fethiye before we take the 4:00 pm bus out to Dalaman for our flight back to Istanbul. We want to do some sightseeing on our 3/4 day that we have in Dalaman and want to be in a convenient location to be able to get around. What hotels are recommended and in which area of Fethiye. We will not really be using the hotel pool or facilities at all as we want to sightsee and just enjoy the town. Do we need to be near the marina or Calis beach or in some other part of Fethiye? Any suggestions of hotels and the area to stay in are appreciated. Thanks.

By the marina would be best - lovely views, an easy walk to Paspatur (the old part of town, bit like a big bazaar) and you can check out the work going on to renovate the old ampitheatre that faces the marina. Would suggest the Yacht Classic or Yacht Boutique, or Alesta Yacht or Ece Saray Hotels. They are all near the marina in Karagozler. For a cheaper option, check out the pansiyons in Karagozler - like the Villa Daffodil.

As per Attaguls list - note that from the 14th to the 18th of Oct is the Muslim holiday of Kurban Bayram this may mean some places will be busier so booking in advance would be best.
