Good places to eat in and around Fethiye (part two)

Somehow it is impossible to add to the chat that İ started a long time ago, so here is a new one with a reference to the first thread:

tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic-g298031-i1222-k206…

And luckily İ can correct the typo in the header :-)

Things change, places come and go. But still going strong since my first post are Nefis Pide in Paspatur for the best pizza's and great lokanta food, Cezayir Usta on the fishmarket for the best vertical spit dürüm, the fish market for fish, CinBal and Yalcin in Kayaköy for great barbecue food...

So some new places:

Kayaköy

Mavi Kelebek in Kayaköy, just next to the Levissi Wine House. Food prepared and served by a Moroccan Turkish couple

Levissi Wine House, a la carte menu good food prices according

İzela, a la carte, also here goes good food and prices aacording

For Fethiye, Shaka and Veranda were two newbies, İ was very pleased with both, but unfortunately we will see them go soon. Hilmi who has a very good restaurant on the fish market will take over with their own way.

A very new restaurant for Fethiye is Kolcuoğlu, on the sea front, just opposite Nayla. This 3 floors high restaurant serves Adana food. So completely new for the town and already very popular for the Turkish locals. The serve Adana food, mezes for starters followed by a meter of kebab. Very interesting way of servign their food on a wooden bridge that goes over the mezes. First then there is the pitta bread on the bridge, on top of that comes the Adana kebab. A bit spicy, not too bad. The dessert is a selection of fruits and sweets. Very worth a visit!

Another great place to visit, and it is really hard to find is Pallazo il Refugia in Ovacık. They only serve on reservation and İ have to say the ambiance is just lovely, as the name suggests quite İtalian.

So soon, when the season comes to an end İ will be happily exploring more in our area and outside that!

Hi V.R. Thanks for the recommendations, we always try new places when we are over, so good to hear from someone who lives there for recommendations.

The Shaka has already been taken over. We were there a couple of weeks ago and did not notice the different, had a lovely lunch and really enjoyed our meal. Glad they have kept the website so we can look in each week.

Also like the Levissi Garden, but will keep in mind the other recommendations for Kaya.

We will also try the place in Ovacik, we have eaten in Ovacik but not at this place.

I will copy and paste your recommendations.

Yes, Shaka is in new hands already for a while, and still continuing the previous menu. But in winter they will undergo changes together with Verand which they also took over. One will be a fish restaurant, and the other will be grill.

İ should also the Koca Calis restaurants on this list. This starts, say, behind the Surf Club all restaurants catering simple but good Turkish food, fab because of the setting. The same goes for Karataş at Kargı beach.

And if you like to venture a bit away from the town and explore the mountains go to Kırkpınar passed Üzümlü and Nif. Such a lovely place and in my humble opinion the best for a village breakfast, in summer outside under the cherry trees.

And don't forget the excellent Mozaik Bahçe in Tethiye, near the fish market and behind Domino's Pizza, situated in a lovely garden. They specialise in food from the Hatay region on the coast near the Syrian border in Southern Turkey. The food is delicious, the staff very friendly and the prices good.

Second your recommendation of the Mozaik Bahce Attagul, and the good news is, it's now open all year around. Nichola & Dogan have had a new door put in the front which will open into an enclosed area with a heater for the colder weather. The sad news for us this year was the Cadde Cafe in Fethiye had closed due to damage to the building, they had moved to Paspatur and we did go around to find them, but no food anymore and no lovely home made lemonade. We loved the Cadde and the great views of the harbour..

İ think Cadde will be back after renovations, they will start soon as we talked to Adam from Blue Cafe. He said they might have to close during winter once they start knocking down the old building from Cadde and they are just next door to building dust and noise. And watching the new mall being pulled up, building in Turkey goes fast... very fast!

Megri in Paspatur is a good restaurant, would recommend it, however, it is seasonal.

Does the Megri restaurant close in winter then, FJ? I hadn't realised that. But the Megri Lokantasi (on the outer corner of Paspatur, before you get to the Duck Pond) is open all year. I love getting a selection of dishes from their "steam table" and it is nice in the restaurant upstairs on a cold winter day.

Attagul, I believe the Megri Restaurant does close in the Winter. I recommended it recently, but was informed it was only seasonal. I suppose as it's open air. in the middle of Paspatur, it may be too cold for an all year around restaurant. Although they do have a small indoor section where the loo's are.

We had a lovely meal there in September.
