lesbears, welcome to Turkey.

Simply fly to Izmir from Istanbul, "www.aerobilet.com". Make a transfer to Izmir Otogar (Main Bus Terminal) and take a bus from there to Bergama.

enigma...

If you're Australian, should you not go via Gallipoli? That's 5 hours by bus. Stay in Canakkale ... then Bergama is another 4 hours or so. Via Troy. there are other messages about that here.

If you're determined to go directly by bus, it's probably easiest to start with the ferry from Yenikapi to Bandirma or Bursa.

If you're back-packers, just roll up at the Otogar and ask.

May I know which route has the shortest transit time? What time is the last ferry to Bandirma and Bursa, and what time is the last bus from these locations? And generally, what's the frequency like?

And how long is the ferry ride and bus journey respectively?

Thanks!

Soo much stuff to see in Turkey that it is ridiculous to even begin planning how to go about it all. The seven congregations that used to exist in Bible Times seem to all be close to one another (Thy‧a‧ti′ra

Sar′dis

Philadelphia

La‧o‧di‧ce′a

Per′ga‧mum

Smyr′na

Eph′e‧sus)

You could go from Istanbul to Bergama by bus however you 'd need to changeover in Canakkale. Balikesir or Edremit. Easiest would be to fly from Istanbul to Izmir then bus to Bergama.

Here are the ido & budo websites which are the 2 companies that operate between Istanbul & Bursa

http://www.ido.com.tr/en

https://budo.burulas.com.tr/Default.aspx

For ido you will be departing Istanbul from Yenikapi

For budo you will be departing Istanbul from Kabatas

Both provide the same service, ferry takes 1.5 hours

Bus once you get off the ferry to metro stop takes 1/2 an hour

Metro to Sehrekustu (behind Ulucamii) takes 1/2 an hour

You could also use a seaplane to fly from the Golden Horn (Halic) to Bursa for 100 lira that takes less than 1/2 an hour
