Nevsehir to Pamukkale

Hi everybody: We are driving (2 adults and 2 kids) from Nevsehir to Pamukkale by mid April. We were recommended to do this in two days (tha'ts ok with us). The part that I don't buy is that the first day will be to Konya (Google maps around 4 hours) and from Konya to Pamukkale, the following day (Google maps around 7 hours). I will like to know if there is other touristic attraction, other than Konya for my first day. Reason: distance is relatively short (4 hours) and there are not to many places to visit in this road (We are planning to stop in the Aksaray Caravanserai, maybe in Lake Tuz, but nothing else to visit around there). The second day (Konya to Pamukkale) is longer, but it seems that it will be more longer as there are other places to visit such as lake Egirdir and Aphrodisias. Please let me know of another town where I can prolong our first driving day.

Thanks

Ingapirca

Why not get to Egirdir your first day?

Hi davidm1: That's a good suggestion. Do you know of a family hotel in Egirdir?

Thanks

It's mostly small pensions there. You might try the Egirdir Hotel which is 3 star: www.pachatours.com/pw/Hotelinfo…

TA has only 3 pensions: tripadvisor.co.uk/Hotels-g1453721-Egirdir_Is…

If you take the somewhat longer route to Konya through Karaman, about 20 kilometers before you get to Karaman you will see a significant site sign saying "Manazan" on your left. That turn will take you to some very interesting sites and a trip through a hidden lush valley in the middle of the arid landscape. You should just continue and come out to the main road just before Karaman. We enjoyed this detour tremendously two years ago.

PS. Be careful on the highway close to Karaman and Konya. Lots of radar. We were caught once and very politely sent off with a "please come back again!" after receiving our ticket. :)

Please check for the Manazan caves site on the web.

Sorry, did not remember well. The location is 40 kilometers from Karaman. The village itself is called 'Taskale'.

This will give you something quite interesting for your first day, and you can stay at Konya afterwards.

If you still have time, you could continue driving down towards Mut another 60 kilometers to see Alahan Monastery, although the kids would probably complain.
