Izmir Airport

Does it have a smoking area & are the shops etc hugely over-priced like Dalaman?

Thanks

The burgerking prices are not that much more expensive than at home, maybe a euro or two more on a meal. Much cheaper than the coffee shop and small shops before you pass through security.

The duty free isn't bad, but not the best I've seen either. You can bring drinks through sometimes - it depends where they choose to conduct the security check. Most times the security check is just as you come through passport checks. But occasionally it will be at your gate. If it's at the gate you can bring drinks as you don't get your bag scanned etc until you are at the gate. If security is just through passports, then you will have to discard it just as you would back home

There is an initial security check as you enter the airport, but they are not concerned with drinks or fluids or the 100ml rule for liquids.

We have just got back and things seem to have changed this year it Izmir airport.

Firstly you cannot take liquids over 100ml into the departure lounge, you used to able to and then dispose of it before boarding the plane but the rule has changed.

Also the prices of drinks and snacks do not seem to be as expensive as they were, this maybe due to the more favourable exchange rate. I think we paid 5.5 TL for a can of coke and 7.5tl for a pack of sandwiches. A small bottle of water was 3tl. These were purhased from the kiosks in the departure lounge not the sit down restaurants.
