Euros or Lira?

What would be best to take - Euros or Lira? Not sure as to whether or not commission and if exchange rates preferable for one or the other. Any help much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

The currency used in Turkey is the Turkish lira. Many places will take other currencies, such as the euro, but will give a poor exchange rate.

Take a debit card and get lira out of ATMs.

Best to bring UK cash with you and change to TL when you get to Turkey - any bank or PTT (Post Office) will give you a good rate of exchange -

For the best GBP-TL rate either take GBP and exchange there (currently approx 2.8 with no commission) or if you do not like travelling with a fat wallet, charge up a pre pay card e.g. Caxtonfx global traveller with GBP and draw out sterling (yes some ATMs in Kalkan will give out £ at no charge), then exchange at bank or ptt.

Gyrapix, any idea which banks don't charge to withdraw sterling?

Garanti bank ATM allows you to draw GBP without any charge, it is opposite Kartin supermarket near Parc Kalkan bar/cafe, obviously your card provider might charge you to draw GBP but the right card in the right ATM should be a winner..
