Itinerary- 9 days mid April

Hi,

We're zerioing in on our itinerary for mid April trip to Turkey- our first one. Plan to book the tix shortly.

The plan is to reach IST on 11st April- we reach late evening landing at 6 PM. Then catch an early morning flight to Antalya- stay at Side for 4 nights. Back to IST on 16th April and then the last 4 nights there before flying back.

1- Side a good choice for a couple in late 20s? According to my reseach, Side wouldnt have a crazy nightlife which is fine but hoping it wont be dead at 10?

2- Car rental at Antalya Airpot and drive to Side? We do definitely plan a day trip to Antalya. Is Olumpos too much for a day trip? any other recommended trips east of Side? Should we keep the car for the 4 days or retrun it at Antalya when we drive there on day 2 of the stay?

3- Weather- I know hard to predict but only hoping not a lot of rain around that time?

Thanks,

Woking, United...

You don't really need to rent a car to get from Antalya to Side -there is a bus every half hour and it only costs 10 TL each. When you are in Side, you can pretty much walk everywhere - to the amphitheatre - to the sea - to the Apollo Temple where Anthony and Cleopatra fell in love - along the promenade next to the coastal edge.

If you look on the Side Forum page and top right Top Questions About Side you will see there Side Tours + Costs and there is a day trip to Antalya town for just 10 Euros. It also stops at a beautiful waterfall en route. There are lots of other day trips from Side too - Alanya on a Friday is fun with the market day - a banana plantation - boat trip - cave with stalagtites and stalagmites - beautiful Dim Cay river where you sit on pontoons in the middle of the river and have your lunch there.

Aspendos and Perge are also very interesting sights to see if you like history? Aspendos has one of the world's oldest and biggest amphitheatres and Perge is where St Paul gave his very first sermon. Both ok for a day trip between them from Side.

Oh - and don't forget a Turkish Bath - good on day one of your holiday to prepare you for the sun. 45 TL via Abdullah and a lot more in the hotels.
